WEST WINS M.V.C. TITLE
Mississippi Divisional
o WEST: A year after taking second in the divisional meet, West reclaimed the throne Friday, scoring 1421/2 points at Dubuque Hempstead. The Women of Troy defeated Hempstead, second with 117 points, to claim their fourth divisional title in six years. "It's nice to get back on top of the conference," said West coach Mike Parker. "Tonight, we wanted to be point productive, and we did a nice job of that." West won five events Friday, but also had two place-winners in nine of 12 individual events. Robdu Adam led West with titles in the 3,000 and 1,500. Lynn Dobyns won the open 800 and West High took first in the distance medley and 4x400. The medley team included Liz Huntley, Annie McAleer, Claire Hall and Janet Dobyns. The 4x400 team was made up of Amanda Judisch, Hall, Lindsey Windauer and Lynn Dobyns. "Robdu winning a double is great, and Lynn ran a 59 in the open (400) and a 59 in the 4x400," Parker said. "Those two seniors did a great job for us today." Lynette Wilson of Cedar Rapids Kennedy was named the Mississippi Division athlete of the year. She won the long jump, open 200 and 400 Friday. Parker was co-coach of the year in the Mississippi Division with Brent Siegert of Dubuque Hempstead. West's Lynn Dobyns and Christian Jacobs were named academic all-conference.
