Assistant Coach Rachel West

Coach West is in her 3rd year with the girl’s track and field team. She is a former University of Iowa softball great.  She led the team in stolen bases for three straight years (2007-2009).  As one of Iowa’s all-time best in stolen bases Coach West brings her depth understanding for developing explosive speed and strength to the West High track and field team.  Coach West is currently working at North Bend Elementary. The experience she gained competing athletically at the Division I level on one of the best teams in the country has helped her become an integral part of the West High coaching staff.

Coach Parker has brought in one of his former star athletes to lead the West High throwing program.  Coach Haight will be in her 2nd year in 2013 as the West High Throws Coach.  As one of the greatest throwers in Iowa history, Coach Haight brings a long list of both high school and collegiate success to the West High Program.  The West High throwers will be coached by a 5-time state champion, a 3-time Drake Relays champion, and a 3-time All-American.  After high school coach Haight enjoyed an outstanding career throwing for one of the most successful programs in the country at the University of Michigan.
