West girls win Valley division
West High's top-ranked girls cross country team took five of the top-eight places and won its eighth consecutive Mississippi Valley Conference divisional title on Thursday at Noelridge Park in Cedar Rapids.
The Women of Troy scored 24 points to win the Valley Division. Third-ranked Cedar Falls had 51 and fifth-ranked Cedar Rapids Kennedy had 73.
Julia Frudden took second place to lead West, finishing the 4-kilometer course in 14 minutes, 59 seconds.
West High's boys scored 174 points for seventh place.
