This is Coach Parker’s 10th year as the head Boys and Girls Cross
Country coach. He is also the head Girls Track and Field coach at West High. Coach Parker has led West High to six team
state titles in just ten years. Winning cross country team titles in 1997, 1998, 2000 & 2001 and winning track & field team
titles in 2000 & 2001. He also has 6 State Championship Runner-up trophies for a total of 12 1st or 2nd place finishes at
the State Championships in his last 14 trips, as well as having won 12 M.V.C. team titles. He has also coached the last four
individual girls XC State Champions in 2000, 2001, 2002 & 2003. These past champions also hold the All-Time state records
in the 2 mile and 4K. Coach Parker has been selected the State Coach of the Year or the At-Large Coach of the Year 11 times
in his 10 years at West High and in the 2003-2004 school year he was voted the I.T.C.A. cross country and girls track & field
Coach of the Year and the Mississippi Valley Conference Coach of the Year in both cross country and track & field as well.
His West High girl’s XC teams have been a USA Today/Nike Foot Locker nationally ranked team for 7 straight years and
will look to continue that streak this year. He has coached 4 girls to cross country All-American status since coaching at
West High. Coach Parker coached at Clear Creek Amana Middle School, West Branch High School and Mount Saint Claire College
in Clinton prior to coming to West High School. Coach Parker is also a frequent motivational speaker at camps, clinics, high
schools, colleges and numerous organizations across the state of Iowa.
